THE JOAN MARAGALL LIBRARY FINALIST OF THE SYSTEMATIC - PUBLIC LIBRARY OF THE YEAR 2015 AWARDS

El premi és atorgat a biblioteques públiques per l'Agència Danesa per a la Cultura amb la companyia Systematic de IT com a patrocinador. El municipi guanyador del premi es donarà a conèixer el 16 d'Agost 2015 durant el congrés anual de la IFLA (Federació Internacional d'Associacions de Bibliotecaris i Biblioteques) a Ciutat del Cap.
El comité asesor base el nomenament de la Biblioteca ..."en el seu alt valor arquitectònic que és significatiu tant a l'exterior com l'interior. La forma en que l'edifici s'integra perfectament en el paisatge urbà i com es creen de nous entre la ciutat existent i la nova biblioteca, així com entre els nous volums... A causa de que l'edifici ha estat organitzat com una construcció de cubs més petits i perquè la major part de l'edifici ha estat situat sota nivell del carrer de la biblioteca és de disseny en una escala humana admirable. A més, la il·luminació de l'edifici es fa d'una manera molt poderosa, i patis més petits porten la llum tant al nivell inferior de l'edifici com per a la creació d'un flux dinàmic en la forma general"...

The prize is awarded to public libraries by the Danish Agency for Culture with IT company Systematic as sponsor. The municipality winner of the award will be revealed the 16th of August 2015 during the annual IFLA (The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) congress in Cape Town.
The assessment committee has based the nomination of the Library ..."on its high architectural value which is significant both in the exterior as well as the interior. The shape of the building is integrated beautifully into the streetscape and new urban spaces are created between both the existing city and the new library as well as between the new volumes... Because the building has been arranged as a construction of smaller cubes and because most of the building has been placed under street level the library is design in an admirable human scale. Furthermore the lighting for the building is done in a very powerful way, and smaller courtyards bring both light into the buildings lower level as well as creating a dynamic flow to the overall shape"...
